A phone is a most useful thing in a car. It also can be a dangerous distraction. The balance between the two can be as simple as a secure and properly placed mount.
The Square Jellyfish Jelly-Grip Car Vent mount provided that balance for me. It provides a secure, visible and easy place for my phone so I can see directions when I’m using it for navigation and so I can answer it (hands-free of course) when a call comes in.
Some of the car vent phone mounts that I’ve seen aren’t worth the effort, they can be flimsy and difficult. The Square Jellyfish Jelly-Grip mount is super easy to install and, once installed, is secure and sturdy. Getting the phone into or out of the mount is easy enough to do with one hand, which means I’ll actually use it rather than the alternative toss-in-the-cup-holder method. Putting the phone in the mount with one-hand does require a specific technique. The Square Jellyfish website has a nice, 49 second video on it (http://ift.tt/1UQ5N6R). Once I saw the technique it was a no-brainer.
The Jelly-Grip mount only works on non-curved vents. It has a metal hook that catches the back edge of the vent and is clamped with a screw to securely hold the mount in place. Vents should be 3/8” to 1” deep. My Ford Explorer vents were perfect.
It’s also easy enough to install and de-install that I can take it with me in a rental car.
The Jelly-Grip mount pivot ball allows maximum flexibility. The phone can tilt and rotate; vertical, horizontal, or any degree in between as well as driver or passenger facing, all while securely held in the rubberized grips.
I think the $18.95 price for the Square Jellyfish Jelly-Grip car vent mount is a terrific deal for security for my expensive phone, my expensive car, and my personal safety.
