Sarvi smartphone dock, MAGNO INK pen, GoSun Go solar stove, and more – Notable crowdfunding campaigns

This week I’m bringing you five crowdfunding campaigns that include four products introduced on Kickstarter and one project that is running on Indiegogo. Click through to read more details about these five crowdfunded products.

Sarvi Dock. Designed for Apple and Android devices.

blurb by Andy Jacobs

What is it?
A simple, sleek, minimalist design dock for smartphones and tables with tons of versatility and adaptability.

Why do I like them?
The main reason (among several) that I like it: Sarvi Dock claims to be compatible with “every possible combination of smartphones/tablets with protective cases and docks available.” Every? Well, it claims to fit the likes of Lifeproof, Otterbox, Catalyst, Apple, Spigen, Mophie, and many more. Its elegant “S”-shaped back with soft-touch coating provides solid support for your phone and its design allows unobstructed use of your phone’s speakers as well as audio jack while docked. Its Cable Connect System includes three easily-to-swap connector adapters that cover the vast majority of phones and tablets: Apple Lightning, Micro USB a, d USB C. It’s compatible with wireless charging pads, has a landscape mode and can act as a USB thumb drive reader as well. Finally, it comes with Sarvi Valet, a small stand that holds the unused Cable Connect adapters and the Landscape Kit. Is there a downside to the Sarvi Dock? I haven’t found one yet. I’m excited about this one.

Where can I find more info?
The Kickstarter campaign is in full swing and will end December 1, so there is still time to become a backer. As of this writing, the campaign still has 32 days to go and already achieved over $19,000 of its $20,000 pledging goal. Pledge package pricing starts at $28 for a single early bird Sarvi Dock and increases from there. Estimated delivery is March 2018. Visit their Kickstarter page for all the details.

Bento Stack for Apple Accessories

What is it?
The Bento Stack is a stackable storage system for cables, chargers, USB flash drives, adapters, wireless headphones, Apple Pencil, Apple Watch bands and other gear that you want to keep organized.

Why do I like them?
I like the Bento Stack because it helps keep all your “stuff” neat and tidy instead of a mess at the bottom of your gear bag. I have used small zippered pouches to keep my gear organized, but the Bento Stack looks like a nice alternative to pouches because you can arrange the storage compartments on your desk when you’re using the gear allowing you to see all the items. Pouches aren’t quite that useful.

Where can I find more info?
The Bento Stack campaign ends in 19 days and they have already passed their funding goal of $25,000. You can pre-order a Bento Stack starting at $38. After the Bento Stack campaign ends, rewards are estimated to start shipping in December 2017. Visit their Indiegogo page for all the details.

MAGNO INK: The World’s Most Intelligent Magnetically Energised Pen.

What is it?
MAGNO INK is an ink pen made of aluminum that uses Neodymium magnets to retract and extend the writing tip.

Why do I like them?
Because magnets! The MAGNO INK pen looks like a nice EDC pen that can accept popular D1 style refills. The magnetic mechanism means you don’t have to worry about losing the cap. It has been designed so it won’t roll off your desk and it also looks like a fun fidget toy.

Where can I find more info?
The MAGNO INK campaign ends in 46 days and they have already met their funding goal of $7,877. You can pre-order a MAGNO INK starting at $40. After the MAGNO INK campaign ends, rewards are estimated to start shipping in March 2018. Visit their Kickstarter page for all the details.

Universal 3.0 Credit Card EDC Multi Tool 60+ Tools in One.

What is it?
The Universal 3.0 is a multi-tool that has over 60 tools but is compact enough to store in your wallet or pocket.

Why do I like them?
I like the Universal 3.0 because it offers a wide variety of tools from wrenches and screwdrivers which are common for multi-tools, to the not so common axe, protractor, sundial clock and compass, and much more.

Where can I find more info?
The Universal 3.0 campaign ends in 15 days and they have already met their funding goal of $5,000. You can pre-order a Universal 3.0 starting at $23. After the Universal 3.0 campaign ends, rewards are estimated to start shipping in February 2018. Visit their Kickstarter page for all the details.

GoSun Go: Boil Water and Cook Meals with Solar Power

What is it?
The GoSun Go is a portable stove that uses the power of the sun to cook your food and boil/sterilize water.

Why do I like them?
I’ve talked about GoSun products before, but this new product is smaller and much easier to take with you on your adventures. The GoSun Go gives you the ability to cool food using no fuel (wood) or batteries. All you need is the sun even if it’s cloudy and cold.

Where can I find more info?
The GoSun Go campaign ends in 23 days and has already reached their funding goal of $10,000. You can pre-order a GoSun Go starting at $99. After the GoSun Go campaign ends, rewards are estimated to start shipping in April 2018. Visit their Kickstarter page for all the details.

MYMUG indestructible mug, Mindful Notebook, Neofit collapsible foam roller, and more – Notable crowdfunding campaigns

This week I’m bringing you five crowdfunding campaigns that include two products that shrink in size when you need to travel. Click through to see more info about these crowdfunded products as well as three others.

MYMUG: The Last Mug You’ll Ever Need. Century Guaranteed!

What is it?
MYMUG is an insulated beverage holder that is made of a virtually unbreakable composite material that 100% FDA approved, BPA and BPS free, dishwasher safe, can be used in the microwave, and is guaranteed for a century.

Why do I like them?
Making Modern sent me a sample of the MYMUG and I really like the modern look and feel. I also like the slots in the base that allow water to drain when you wash it in a dishwasher. The fact that you can drop it without worrying that it will break is a big plus too. It’s also great that it’s made right here in the US and each mug features a lifetime warranty against defects. The $5 drink-through lid is a nice touch too.

Where can I find more info?
The MYMUG campaign ends in 26 days and they working on reaching their funding goal of $20,000. You can pre-order a MYMUG starting at $10. After the MYMUG campaign ends, rewards are estimated to start shipping in February 2018. Visit their Kickstarter page for all the details.

The Mindful Notebook by Corso

What is it?
The Mindful Notebook is a hardback notebook that helps you unplug and write down your thoughts and task lists.

Why do I like them?
Corso sent me a sample of the Mindful Notebook to check out and I was impressed by the look and feel. Each lined page has a thought or quote at the top and there’s a section at the bottom that is dedicated to listing what you’re grateful for that day.

Where can I find more info?
The Mindful Notebook campaign ends in 18 days and they have already met their funding goal of $10,000. You can pre-order a Mindful Notebook starting at $28. After The Mindful Notebook campaign ends, rewards are estimated to start shipping in December 2017. Visit their Kickstarter page for all the details.

Neofit Roller: The Foam Roller That Goes Anywhere

What is it?
Neofit is a portable version of a foam roller that you can use for self-massage to help with tight muscles and sore areas that are also known as “trigger points”. The Neofit opens to 12 inches and collapses down to a super compact 4 inches.

Why do I like them?
First of all, I don’t personally use foam rollers, but my better half does ALL THE TIME. We have 2 of them in our basement living room and they are each over 3 feet long and 6 or so inches long. They are like a log and take up space. I’d love to get Jeanne one of the Neofit rollers to take the place of the regular rollers that she has because they look like they will do the same thing but take up a fraction of the space.

Where can I find more info?
The Neofit Roller campaign ends in 29 days and they have already met their funding goal of $30,000. You can pre-order a Neofit Roller starting at $49. After The Neofit Roller campaign ends, rewards are estimated to start shipping in July 2018. Visit their Kickstarter page for all the details.

MagC: Wireless MacBook Charging

What is it?
MagC is a wireless charging case that has been designed to clip to the bottom of a MacBook. It will charge your iPhone 8 and iPhone X devices and other Qi devices too.

Why do I like them?
I’ve been a fan of Qi wireless charging for years and would love to have that capability for my MacBook too. The MagC wireless charger looks really interesting and it’s being made by the same people who created the TarDisk so at least you know that it’s not from a company who has never made a product before.

Where can I find more info?
The MagC campaign ends in 56 days and they have already met their funding goal of $1,000. You can pre-order a MagC starting at $139. After The MagC campaign ends, rewards are estimated to start shipping in March 2018. Visit their Kickstarter page for all the details.

Jammy – Super Portable Digital Guitar

What is it?
Jammy is a travel-sized steel stringed digital guitar.

Why do I like them?
I’m a sucker for small musical instruments. I have owned small keyboards, travel guitars, ukuleles, and even other miniature digital guitars like the Jamstik. I think the Jammy looks like it might be better than the Jamstik because it opens to a larger size. The Jamstik was cool, but it was really small and slightly awkward to use. The Jammy looks like it might solve that problem while remaining very portable and travel-friendly. You don’t even need an app to play music on it because it’s a MIDI instrument. Just plug in headphones and play.

Where can I find more info?
The Jammy campaign ends in 56 days and they have already met their funding goal of $50,000. You can pre-order a Jammy starting at $349. After The Jammy campaign ends, rewards are estimated to start shipping in April 2018. Visit their Indiegogo page for all the details.

Action Jacket, a new fanny pack, travel backpacks, and more – Notable crowdfunding campaigns

Here are our picks for this week’s notable crowdfunding projects that we think are worthy of your pledge considerations.

The Action Jacket

blurb by Andy Jacobs

What is it?
This sharp-looking, 3-season jacket is loading with technical features for fitness fans or just casual wearers.

Why do I like it?
I like the idea of simple-looking apparel that is loaded with features. The Action Jacket starts with lightweight, 4-way stretch 92% Nylon/8% Elastane material coated with Dupon Teflon DWR finish for water resistance. Add to that an adjustable contoured hood, drawcord hem, thumb loops, stash pocket, packable arm pocket, reflective trim, mesh pit vents, breathable back vent, YKK zippers, and a new, patent-pending, removable and size-adjustable device strapping system. This is a pocket mounted on the left upper arm that holds a phone in place with cinch strap to keep it from bouncing around while working out. Plus, the whole jacket packs down into this pocket for travel and it only weighs about as much as a banana! Which is a great healthy snack!

Where can I find more info?
The Kickstarter campaign is in its last few days and will end October 17, so there is still time to become a backer. It’s worth noting that the campaign has already blown away its minimum funding goal of $30,000 as of this writing with nearly $190,000 in pledges and over 1,400 backers. Pledge package pricing starts at $105 for a single early bird Action Jacket and increases from there. Estimated delivery is March 2018. Visit The Action Jacket Kickstarter campaign page for more details.

Next-Gen Storage Solution – BASEbelt

What is it?
The BASEbelt is an updated version of the waist bag AKA fanny pack.

Why do I like it?
The fanny pack has been placed in the same category as the mullet and wearing socks with flip-flops. Seriously though, why are fanny packs so hated? Maybe it’s the name because these small handsfree bags are convenient. The BASEbelt may fare better because it’s designed to look more modern while offering storage options that will let you carry your phone, keys, wallet and other small items.

Where can I find more info?
The Kickstarter campaign ends in 3 days as they are still working towards their funding goal of $35,000. You can pre-order a BASEbelt starting at $25. After the BASEbelt campaign ends, rewards are estimated to start shipping in December 2017. Visit their Kickstarter page for all the details.

Adventure Tape – The Ultimate Rescue Solution For Your Gear

What is it?
Adventure Tape is a strong, stretchy, tacky but non-adhesive, durable polyurethane tape that has been designed to replace products like rope, sticky tape, string and more.

Why do I like it?
I love duct tape, but I hate that you can’t remove it without creating a sticky mess or reuse it. Adventure tape fixes both of those problems and can be used to fix all sorts of things.

Where can I find more info?
The Adventure Tape Kickstarter campaign ends in 19 days and they are still working towards their funding goal of $19,929. You can pre-order a multi-pack of Adventure Tape starting at $24. After the Adventure Tape campaign ends, rewards are estimated to start shipping in April 2018. Visit their Kickstarter page for all the details.

Brevitē: The Ultimate Travel and Commuter Backpack

What is it?
Brevitē bags are lightweight, weatherproof, backpacks that have been designed for travel.

Why do I like them?
I like the design of these bags because they feature a multi-functional modular system that includes an interior bag that can be removed and used as a crossbody bag. And the bags all have magnetic buckles, which I really like.

Where can I find more info?
The Brevitē Kickstarter campaign ends in 27 days and they are still working towards their funding goal of $30,000. You can pre-order a Brevitē bag starting at $175. After the Brevitē campaign ends, rewards are estimated to start shipping in February 2018. Visit their Kickstarter page for all the details.

POWERUP DART – App Controlled Paper Airplane. With Tricks.

What is it?
The Powerup Dart is a paper airplane that you fold yourself and then fly using your smartphone.

Why do I like them?
First of all, it’s a drone made of carbon fiber and nylon, so it can take a beating. It’s also a flyable drone that you make yourself by using paper. But what takes it over and beyond cool is that this smartphone controlled plane can do aerobatics tricks like barrel rolls, loops, and more.

Where can I find more info?
The POWERUP DART campaign ends in 3 days and they have already flown past their funding goal of $25,000 by more than 1 million dollars. You can pre-order a POWERUP DART starting at $29. After the POWERUP DART campaign ends, rewards are estimated to start shipping in December 2017. Visit their Kickstarter page for all the details.

CorSense HRV tracker, Euclid measuring cup, Modern Fuel mechanical pencil, and more – Notable crowdfunding campaigns

Here are my picks for this week’s notable crowdfunding projects that I think are interesting enough to check out.

Modern Fuel pencil 2.0: A Minimal Mechanical Pencil that will Last a Lifetime 2.0

What is it?
The Modern Fuel pencil 2.0 is a mechanical pencil made from titanium, stainless steel, copper, or bronze that has an interchangeable mechanism that allows swapping of different sized lead.

Why do I like it?
I like this mechanical pencil because it has been designed with a classic minimalist look and feel, but with the useful feature that allows you to switch from 0.5 mm, 0.7 mm or 0.9 mm sized leads by replacing the mechanism.

Where can I find more info?
With 53 days left in the campaign, the Modern Fuel pencil 2.0 campaign has already met their funding goal of $5,000. You can pre-order a Modern Fuel pencil starting at $70. After the Modern Fuel pencil campaign ends, rewards are estimated to start shipping in February 2018. Visit their Kickstarter page for all the details.

CorSense: Optimize health and fitness without 24/7 wearables

What is it?
CorSense is a small device that measures HRV which stands for heart rate variability.

HRV is a non-invasive measure of the Autonomic Nervous System (ANS) – which responds to everything: how you exercise, recover, eat, sleep and perceive stress. Unlike basic heart rate (HR) that counts the number of heartbeats per minute, HRV looks at the exact changes in time between successive heartbeats (also called inter-beat intervals or RR intervals).

Why do I like it?
I like that this isn’t just another wearable. You actually don’t have to wear it at all. You just insert your finger into the device which has medical grade sensors for 2 minutes and it will automatically turn on and take the reading. The information it collects can give you insight on your stress levels, how your new workout is affecting your overall health, and more.

Where can I find more info?
With 16 days left in the campaign, the CorSense campaign is still working towards their funding goal of $150,000. You can pre-order a CorSense starting at $115. After the CorSense campaign ends, rewards are estimated to start shipping in March 2018. Visit their Kickstarter page for all the details.

Euclid – A more accurate measuring cup

What is it?
Euclid is a new version of a measuring cup that is more accurate than the cups that are probably cluttering your kitchen cupboard right now.

Why do I like it?
I like the Euclid because it’s more accurate than larger measuring cups that are designed to measure from 1/4 C to 1 or 2 cups or larger. When you use these cups to measure smaller amounts, the measurements aren’t as accurate compared to using the same cup to measure larger amounts. It has to do with the ratio of surface area to volume. Little changes in the measurements can have a big effect to your recipes. The Euclid’s unique shape helps solve this problem.

Where can I find more info?
With 24 days left in the campaign, the Euclid campaign met their funding goal of $30,000. You can pre-order a Euclid starting at $24. After the Euclid campaign ends, rewards are estimated to start shipping in May 2018. Visit their Kickstarter page for all the details.

Zen Mount – The Most Over-Engineered Mount For Your Gadgets

What is it?
The Zen Mount is a universal device mount that features a telescoping arm, pan-and-tilt, 360-degree movement, and is strong enough to hold devices up to 5-lbs.

Why do I like it?
I like the Zen Mount because it has been designed to be used with multiple types of devices, not just phones, or tablets. With various attachments, it can work with cameras, laptops, and other devices too. It also has different types of bases to securely clamp it to a table, pole, and more.

Where can I find more info?
With 9 days left in the campaign, the Zen Mount campaign has met their funding goal of $22,000. You can pre-order a Zen Mount starting at $99. After the Zen Mount campaign ends, rewards are estimated to start shipping in February 2018. Visit their Kickstarter page for all the details.

infani – smart baby monitor

What is it?
infani is a baby monitor with live streaming video and contact-free breathing sensing features.

Why do I like it?
I like the infani baby monitor because it will monitor your child’s breathing and sleep quality without using straps or sensors that touch the baby. infani will send an alert to a mobile device if it hasn’t detected a breath in 10 seconds. It also sends an alert when the baby wakes up.

Where can I find more info?
With 23 days left in the campaign, the infani campaign is still working towards their funding goal of $50,000. You can pre-order an infani starting at $259. After the infani campaign ends, rewards are estimated to start shipping in November 2017. Visit their Kickstarter page for all the details.

Scissors inside a pen, X-Bows ergonomic keyboard, Coolala solar powered AC, and more – Notable crowdfunding campaigns

Check out this week’s picks for crowdfunding projects from Kickstarter and Indiegogo that are worth your consideration.

The Five-Day Performance Dress Shirt by Bluffworks

blurb by Andy Jacobs

What is it?
A dress shirt designed from the ground up for travel and loaded with features, from a company that has proven that it knows how to design and build travel clothes.

Why do I like it?
Lots of reasons! For starters, it features soft-feel fabric in multiple checked patterns. And although it’s soft, it’s still breathable and has 2-way stretchy to keep you cool and comfortable when you’re active. Additionally, travelers will appreciate that it’s anti-microbial, wrinkle free and can be machine washed and dried (or even washed in a sink and hung up to dry). While some or even many of these features may be present in other, similar products, it’s the combination of these features, plus the attention to design detail, manufacturing and quality that puts the Meridian Dress Shirt in a class of its own. It includes brass collar stays, a pattern-aligned pocket and reinforced buttons. And if all of that wasn’t enough, Bluffworks is the real deal. I can tell you firsthand that their Blazer and Travel Pants are top-notch, for travelers or anyone else who appreciates well-designed, well-built clothing.

Where can I find more info?
The Kickstarter campaign began on September 18 and ends October 23, so you have plenty of time to become a backer. In fact, after only a few hours after going live, it exceeded its minimum goal of $10,000 and raised over $65,000 in funds with over 375 backers so far. Pledge packages start at $98 for a single shirt and top off at $280 for a package with three shirts. Estimated delivery is December 2017 for all packages. Visit their Kickstarter page for all the details.

Coolala Affordable In/Outdoor Solar Powered Portable Air Conditioner

blurb by Julie Strietelmeier

What is it?
Coolala is the first outdoor and indoor solar-powered portable 7 pound 3,500 BTU air conditioner unit that has 150 square feet of cooling power.

Why do I like it?
It’s been in the 90’s here in Southern Indiana this week, so our AC unit at home has been running like it’s still summer. AC units need a lot of juice, so having a small portable unit that is powered by sunlight sounds like a genius idea. The Coolala has a built-in rechargeable battery that can run for up to 8 hours when fully charged by either plugging it into an AC outlet or by using solar panels. You probably won’t try using Coolala to keep your 3000 square foot house cool, but it would be great for an enclosed patio, camping, a garage, etc. It even has a built-in light.

Where can I find more info?
With 9 days left in the campaign, the Coolala campaign has already met their funding goal of $25,596. You can pre-order a Coolala starting at $219. After the Coolala campaign ends, rewards are estimated to start shipping in April 2018. Visit their Kickstarter page for all the details.

X-Bows Mechanical Ergonomic Keyboard

blurb by Julie Strietelmeier

What is it?
The X-Bows keyboard is a QWERTY keyboard that has a unique key layout for better ergonomics.

Why do I like it?
Traditional keyboards are designed so that our fingers, hands, and wrists need to be at a right angle to the horizontal keyboard for optimal typing speed. The problem is that after long sessions of typing, the placement of our hands and wrists can cause pain and discomfort. The X-Bows keyboard positions the keys in a more natural layout that should allow for more comfortable typing without having to learn a brand new key layout.

Where can I find more info?
With 42 days left in the campaign, the X-Bows campaign has already met their funding goal of $32,345. You can pre-order an X-Bows keyboard starting at $119. After the X-Bows campaign ends, rewards are estimated to start shipping in December 2017. Visit their Kickstarter page for all the details.

Xcissor Pen – One Mighty Scissors Hidden in Your Sleek Pen

blurb by Andy Jacobs

What is it?
The Xcissor Pen is a sharp-looking writing instrument that has a sharp hidden feature inside: a miniature pair of scissors, for those times when a knife blade may just not be right for the job.

Why do I like it?
I’m an EDCer, and I appreciate items that can perform multiple functions. The mininch Xcissor Pen does just that, and looks good doing it, plus it looks durable as heck. Just pop off the main body and disengage the safely lock and you are ready to cut away. The body are made from Stainless Steel and are available in various combinations of silver pen or scissors (nickel plated) or black pen or scissors (Teflon coated) and it uses a Mini D1 Ballpoint Pen Refill. Also, the cap threads on for security, but also posts on the rear for better balance while writing. The mininch folks have already run several other hugely successful Kickstarter campaigns for similar EDC tool gadgets, including the Wrenchit, the Tool Pen and the Tool Pen mini.

Where can I find more info?
The Kickstarter campaign is in full swing and will end November 9, so there is still time to become a backer. It’s worth noting that the campaign has already met its minimum funding goal of $10,000 as of this writing. Pledge package pricing starts at $45 for a single Xcissor Pen and combo packages are available. Estimated delivery is March 2018. Visit the Xcissor Pen Kickstarter campaign page for more details. Visit their Kickstarter page for all the details.

VIITA Watch – Custom Wearable Fitness Coach

blurb by Julie Strietelmeier

What is it?
VIITA is a smartwatch with regular smartwatch features and fitness features like sleep tracking, stress tracking, heart rate tracking, GPS, dehydration tracking and more.

Why do I like it?
I’ve yet to find a smartwatch that I want to wear day in and day out. The VIITA smartwatch looks promising for a couple of reasons. First of all, runs for up to 4 weeks on a charge which cuts out the huge hassle of charging the watch every night. VIITA also tracks hydration levels which is interesting to me because I know I don’t drink enough liquids and would like some type of visual prompt to help me change that. I also like the My Sets feature that lets you find the right timing between your resting periods and sets, to optimize your muscle growth.

Where can I find more info?
With 30 days left in the campaign, the VIITA campaign just working towards their funding goal of $30,000. You can pre-order a VIITA watch starting at $135. After the VIITA campaign ends, rewards are estimated to start shipping in December 2017. Visit their Indiegogo page for all the details.

360 earbuds, HELIO solar battery, inflatable travel bags, and more – Notable crowdfunding campaigns

Check out my 5 picks for this week’s notable crowdfunding projects from Kickstarter. Hey, don’t blame me if you’re always broke!

3D 5.1 Virtual Surround Sound Earbud with Premium Sub Bass

What is it?
360 Earbuds are wired earbuds that simulate surround sound.

Why do I like it?
I was sent a pair of 360 Earbuds to try out and they make it feel like you’re in a room surrounded by the music. The audio quality was very impressive. Music sounded significantly better than my current favorite earbuds: DUNU Titan 1s. Vocals sound much crisper and the bass response is excellent. The only down side to the 360 Earbuds is that they are wired.

Where can I find more info?
With 46 days left in the campaign, the 360 Earbuds campaign has already met their funding goal of $25,000. You can pre-order a pair of 360 Earbuds starting at $55. After the 360 Earbuds campaign ends, rewards are estimated to start shipping in December 2017. Visit their Kickstarter page for all the details.

HELIO: Solar Light & Powerbank for Adventures & Emergencies

What is it?
HELIO is a solar powered 150-lumen emergency light with a 5200mAh backup battery.

Why do I like it?
There are all kinds of solar powered power banks with built in flashlights on the market, but I like this one because it can also be used as a lantern and it has a red light mode to prevent problems with night vision. Also, 100% of the profits for this product are used to provide light and power products to those with limited access to electricity.

Where can I find more info?
With 49 days left in the campaign, the HELIO campaign is still working towards their funding goal of $10,000. You can pre-order a HELIO starting at $45. After the HELIO campaign ends, rewards are estimated to start shipping in December 2017. Visit their Kickstarter page for all the details.

Luna Display

What is it?
The Luna Display is a Mini DisplayPort or USB-C adapter for MacOS devices that turn an iPad into a wireless second display with almost zero lag.

Why do I like it?
I’ve used software solutions that turn an iPad into a second display for my MacBook and while they work, those solutions tend to be laggy and buggy. Luna Display turns your MacOS device into a touch screen device because you can use keyboards and mice with it.

Qbit keychain measuring device

What is it?
Qbits are machined brass or stainless Steel metric or standard measuring tools that you can carry in your pocket, on your keychain, or leave at your desk.

Why do I like it?
I like Qbits because I’m a sucker for EDC gear that looks good AND serves a purpose. Semi-regularly I need to measure something and don’t have a ruler with me or any way to record the length of an object. Qbits seem like a cool way to always carry a ruler – even if it a short one.

Where can I find more info?
With 29 days left in the campaign, the Qbit campaign has already passed their funding goal of $1,000. You can pre-order a Qbit starting at $20. After the Qbit campaign ends, rewards are estimated to start shipping in November 2017. Visit their Kickstarter page for all the details.

ZIPPELIN: An inflatable, one-of-a-kind travel bag by FREITAG

What is it?
ZIPPELIN is a large travel bag made of recycled truck tarps that compresses down and rolls up into a shoebox sized pack for easy storage when you aren’t using it and inflates to a full sized rolling luggage when you do.

Why do I like it?
I love this idea because I’ve never seen a large travel bag that can fold down that small, and the idea of using a bicycle tire intertube in place of a frame is a genius design. It’s just too bad that they cost over $500 and won’t be available until next year. But still, I think this is a great idea and hope to see it used with other travel bags.

Where can I find more info?
With 29 days left in the campaign, the ZIPPELIN campaign has already passed their funding goal of $119,827. You can pre-order a ZIPPELIN starting at $505. After the ZIPPELIN campaign ends, rewards are estimated to start shipping in May 2018. Visit their Kickstarter page for all the details.

VENTURE 4-in-1 camera, Rollgut roll up clipboard, Belle speaker, and more – Notable crowdfunding campaigns

Grab your wallet and take a look at our 5 picks for this week’s notable crowdfunding projects from Kickstarter and IndieGoGo.

VENTURE: The World’s Most Versatile 4-in-1 Camera

What is it?
VENTURE is an HD camera that can be used for live-streaming to Facebook and YouTube Live either via WiFi or 4G/LTE (through your smartphone).

Why do I like it?
I like the VENTURE because it’s much more than just another 1080p action cam GoPro style camera. It’s also a live-stream camera, a dash cam, a body cam, and even a flashlight.

The VENTURE camera has been designed by Wolfcom, the same company that makes law enforcement body cameras, so you know it’s built to last.

It’s expandable too. There is an optional 23hr battery pack, a night vision camera, POV camera, headset camera, pinhole camera and various mounting clips.

Where can I find more info?
With 21 days left in the campaign, the VENTURE campaign is close to reaching their funding goal of $25,000. You can pre-order the VENTURE camera starting at $149. After the VENTURE campaign ends, rewards are estimated to start shipping in February 2018. Visit their IndieGoGo page for all the details.

Rollgut: Bring your thoughts to roll

What is it?
Rollgut is a wooden clipboard. But it’s not your traditional clipboard, this one is round and is made of wood.

Why do I like it?
I like the Rollgut because it’s unique and it combines several of my favorite things like wood, pens, pencils, and paper into a portable holder that rolls up and stores in your bag or pocket. And best of all, you don’t to charge it or sync it. You just enjoy the analog way of writing down your thoughts, sketches, and notes.

Where can I find more info?
With 25 days left in the campaign, the Rollgut campaign is still working towards their funding goal of $83,481. You can pre-order the Rollgut starting at $66. After the Rollgut campaign ends, rewards are estimated to start shipping in December 2017. Visit their Kickstarter page for all the details.

Belle – Bluetooth Speaker and Wireless Hub by Podo Labs

blurb by: Bill Henderson
What is it?
Podo Labs states the Belle has audiophile sound at a fraction of the cost with powerful bass and the ability to sync multiple speakers of any brands.

Why do I like it?
I like Belle because I’m familiar with the extremely expensive Devialet Phantom Bluetooth speaker. Belle appears to be based on the same principle at a fraction of the cost. It has a bass response as low as 35 Hz of window rattling bass. It can be synced up to six wireless speakers of any brand. Belle is a full-range speaker, with two full-range speaker drivers and a bass woofer for a 2.1 stereo system. It will play clear sound with deep and resonant bass that’s not overly boomy and also has a sub mode which will transform Belle into a full Bluetooth subwoofer.

Where can I find more info?
The Belle Bluetooth Speaker campaign has surpassed the funding goal of $50,000 with plenty of spots left. You can donate to the campaign starting with $219 for the slightly less powerful Belle Lite speaker and charger. A $299 pledge gets you the more powerful Belle speaker with charger. The levels of involvement go up to $5,000 which includes 6 Belle speakers and an invitation to a VIP party for you and 25 of your closest friends in Los Angeles. After the campaign ends, shipping is estimated to begin in May 2018. Visit their Kickstarter page for all the details.

Cubiio: The Most Compact Laser Engraver

What is it?
Cubiio is a table top laser engraver and cutter.

Why do I like it?
I like Cubiio because it can engrave and/or cut many types of materials including paper, wood, cardboard, felt, leather and more.

It’s small so it doesn’t require a lot of space, it uses your smartphone or tablet to create a G-code file from an image that you want to engrave on the material.

The only bummer is that the Cubiio can not engrave metals… But it still looks like fun for makers and crafty types.

Where can I find more info?
With 12 days left in the campaign, the Cubiio campaign has already earned over 1.2 million more than their funding goal of $25,000. You can pre-order the Cubiio starting at $319. After the Cubiio campaign ends, rewards are estimated to start shipping in November 2017. Visit their Kickstarter page for all the details.

The BitzBlade 2.0 – The Last Multi-Tool You’ll Ever Need

What is it?
The BitzBlade 2.0 is an updated version of the original BitzBlade. The new version is a multi-tool with 26 features.

Why do I like it?
I like the BitzBlade 2.0 because it’s a multi-function tool and I’m a sucker for small tools and tool kits. The BitzBlade 2.0 is interesting because it not only offers driver bits, but it also has blades, wrenches, and a flashlight in a small pen-like form factor.

Where can I find more info?
With 41 days left in the campaign, the BitzBlade 2.0 campaign has met their funding goal of $10,000. You can pre-order the BitzBlade 2.0 starting at $55. After the BitzBlade 2.0 campaign ends, rewards are estimated to start shipping in January 2018. Visit their Kickstarter page for all the details.

ROBOT RISE! card game, SYWOS One workout device, Eco Scoop, and more – Notable crowdfunding campaigns

Ready to part with some money? Check out this week’s collection of 5 crowdfunding projects that I think look interesting and worthy of your pledges.

ROBOT RISE! Card Game

What is it?
ROBOT RISE! is a 2-4 player card game that has been created by a fellow gadget loving friend of mine Craig Froehle and his family who live in Cincinnati Ohio.

Why do I like it?
I like the ROBOT RISE! card game because robots! First of all, you can play this game with as few as 2 players and a time investment of only 15-30 minutes. The idea is that you are a mad scientist and your goal is to destroy the lairs of the other mad scientists (other players in the game) by building robots.

Besides the fact that I know Craig and want to see him succeed with this campaign, I think the game sounds like a lot of fun.

Where can I find more info?
With 9 days left in the campaign, the ROBOT RISE! campaign is close to reaching their funding goal of $7,500. You can pre-order the ROBOT RISE! game starting at $19. After the ROBOT RISE! campaign ends, rewards are estimated to start shipping in February 2018. Visit their Kickstarter page for all the details.

SYWOS One exercise device

What is it?
SYWOS One is a portable workout device that trains opposing muscles in one cycle.

Why do I like it?
I like the SYWOS One because it’s portable, takes up very little storage space, and it can cut your workout time by working two muscle groups because there is resistance in both directions of the movement. It’s not just good for arms, but you can use it to build up strength in your chest, shoulders, legs, and back too.

Where can I find more info?
With 31 days left in the campaign, the SYWOS One campaign has already reached their funding goal of $29,520. You can pre-order the SYWOS One game starting at $117. After the SYWOS One campaign ends, rewards are estimated to start shipping in October 2017. Visit their Kickstarter page for all the details.

Eco Scoop – Credit card size Pop-up Eating Utensil

What is it?
Eco Scoop is an individually packaged folding spoon designed and invented by a guy who worked for Sir James Dyson for 10 years.

Why do I like it?
Eco Scoop is an easy to carry spoon for on the go eating. When you’re done with it, you can throw it on the compost heap where it will biodegrade in just 4 weeks compared to the 500 years that a typical styrene spoon takes because the Eco Scoop is made of a wood based biopolymer.

Where can I find more info?
With 25 days left in the campaign, the Eco Scoop campaign still has a lot of work to do before reaching their funding goal of $28,350. You can pre-order a pack of 10 Eco Scoops starting at $5. After the Eco Scoop campaign ends, rewards are estimated to start shipping in December 2017. Visit their Kickstarter page for all the details.

Specdrums: Music at Your Fingertips

What is it?
Specdrums are rings that turn colors into sounds when you tap them.

Why do I like it?
I like Specdrums because you can use them to turn any color into any sound which allows you to easily create your own “instruments” in seconds.

Where can I find more info?
With 23 days left in the campaign, the Specdrums campaign has already blown past their funding goal of $15,000. You can pre-order a Specdrum ring starting at $34. After the Specdrums campaign ends, rewards are estimated to start shipping in January 2018. Visit their Kickstarter page for all the details.

Spinbox – A DIY Portable Turntable Kit

What is it?
Spinbox is a kit with all the parts necessary (including a speaker) to build a turntable in as little as 30 minutes.

Why do I like it?
I like the Spinbox because it’s a building kit and I’ve always enjoyed building things. Especially things that you can actually use after you’re done building them. This kit doesn’t even require soldering.

Where can I find more info?
With 9 days left in the campaign, the Spinbox campaign has already surpassed their funding goal of $30,000 many times over. You can pre-order a Spinbox starting at $99. After the Spinbox campaign ends, rewards are estimated to start shipping in November 2017. Visit their Kickstarter page for all the details.

Paq convertible travel bag, Waylens 360 degree dashcam, and more – Notable crowdfunding campaigns

Do you have some extra cash burning a hole in your pocket? Then consider funding one of this week’s notable crowdfunding campaigns. Click through to see this week’s list of projects.

The Paq Carry On Travel Bag

What is it?
The Paq Carry On Travel Bag is a bag that can be worn like a backpack or as a shoulder bag.

Why do I like it?
I like the Paq Carry On Travel Bag because it’s a versatile travel bag that can convert from backpack to a duffel bag that you can wear over your shoulder. Their cool rotating strap buckle design makes the conversion easy and fast.

This is a LARGE bag that can carry all your gear for a weekend or longer. Although it’s large, it will fit in most airline overhead bins.

They sent me a prototype to check out and I was very impressed by the materials, workmanship and all the extra little features that seasoned travelers will appreciate.

Where can I find more info?
With 18 days left in the campaign, the Paq Carry On Travel Bag campaign is still working towards their funding goal of $25,000. You can pre-order a Paq Carry On Travel Bag starting at $178. After the Paq Carry On Travel Bag campaign ends, rewards are estimated to start shipping in December 2017. Visit their Indiegogo page for all the details.

Yaket Ice – High Performance Ice Packs

What is it?
An upgrade to the classic, scalloped ice pack drink holder for your cooler. Optimized to cool your drinks faster and keep them cool longer.

Why do I like it?
As a product development engineer myself, I really appreciate the idea of taking a product that has been in use for years, or even decades, and thoughtfully re-engineering it to make it even better, thus moving the state of the art of that type of product forward. In many cases, the changes to a product might be subtle, but still very effective, and I think that might just be the case with the Yaket Ice ice pack. Compared to a typical ice pack of this type, the Yacket Ice is larger, heavier, and colder and includes a silicone band to hold your drinks tightly against it. Again, these may appear to be minor improvements, but I think could add up to a more effective ice pack. Also, the Yacket Ice campaign was created by brothers Brian and Dan Conti. Although this is their first campaign together, I’ve backed several Kickstarter projects run by Brian Conti, and I have been very happy with the results, so I have trust in the Conti Brothers to run a good campaign and deliver a great product.

Where can I find more info?
The Kickstarter campaign is in full swing and will end August 31, so there is still time to become a backer. It’s worth noting that the campaign has already met its minimum funding goal of $2,500 with over $6,300 in pledges and 148 backers as of this writing. Pledge package pricing starts at $29 for the Early Bird package and combo packages are available. Estimated delivery is September 2017 for early backer pledges. Visit the Yacket Ice Kickstarter campaign page for more details.

Waylens Secure360 with 4G – Automotive Security Camera

What is it?
The Waylens Secure360 is a 360-degree dash camera that keeps an eye on everything inside and around your car and alerts you via 4G if there’s an issue.

Why do I like it?
I like the Waylens Secure360 because it’s an interesting evolution of the dash cam. It doesn’t just capture what goes on in front of your vehicle, it records everything inside and around the car and will let you live stream when you’re not nearby with the built-in 4G-LTE connection.

Where can I find more info?
With 25 days left in the campaign, the Waylens Secure360 campaign has already driven past their funding goal of $60,000. You can pre-order the 4G LTE version of the Waylens Secure360 dash cam starting at $249. After the Waylens Secure360 campaign ends, rewards are estimated to start shipping in March 2018. Visit their Kickstarter page for all the details.

PolarSeal Heated Tops

What is it?
PolarSeal tops are lightweight knit shirts that warm up with the touch of a button.

Why do I like it?
I wear a light weight sweater all year round both at home and my day job because I’m pretty cold natured. I feel like my internal thermostat has been broken since my whole cancer adventure. The slightest breeze can make me break out in goosebumps. So a long sleeve shirt that can instantly ward off chills sounds like something I would buy.

The shirts feature three heating levels and two heating zones. One zone is on the upper back and the other one is on the lower back. The rechargeable battery pack will allow for up to 8 hours of warming.

Where can I find more info?
With 21 days left in the campaign, the PolarSeal Tops campaign has already burned past their funding goal of $49,868. You can pre-order a PolarSeal top starting at $139. After the PolarSeal tops campaign ends, rewards are estimated to start shipping in November 2017. Visit their Kickstarter page for all the details.

Lauco car mount, SparkMaker 3D printer, and more – Notable crowdfunding campaigns

It must be a slow week for cool crowdfunding projects because I’ve only found 4 Kicstarter and Indiegogo projects to tell you about. Click through to see this week’s notable crowdfunding campaigns.

Lauco – NanoSuction car mount for phones & cases

What is it?
Lauco is a simple car or desk mount for your smartphone that uses nano-suction technology instead of suction cups and magnets.

Why do I like it?
I like the Lauco mount because you don’t have to bother with metal plates that go between the phone and a case like you do when you use magnetic mounts. That also means that you don’t even need a case on your phone to use this mount.

This particular mount is effective even in high temps which can happen in a hot car, and it allows for 720-degree rotation so that you can always adjust the phone for the most comfortable viewing angle.

They sent me a prototype to check out and I was happy with the fit and finish of this particular car mount.

Where can I find more info?
With 30 days left in the campaign, Lauco is just getting started working towards their funding goal of $5,000. You can pre-order a Lauco mount starting at $19. After the Lauco campaign ends, rewards are estimated to start shipping in September 2017. Visit their Indiegogo page for all the details.

The Color Notebook

What is it?
The Color Notebook is a reusable notebook that can be archived using a smartphone app, wiped clean, and reused over and over again.

Why do I like it?
You can draw or write on the Color Notebook using dry erase pens, colored pencils, and even crayons.

At the bottom of each page is a line of icons that can be used to archive the drawings/writings to different cloud storage services like Google Drive, Dropbox, and more. The beauty comes when you want to reuse the notebook because the pages wipe clean in a sec.

Where can I find more info?
With 31 days left in the campaign, the Color Notebook has already raced passed their funding goal of $21,500. You can pre-order a Color Notebook starting at $20. After the Color Notebook campaign ends, rewards are estimated to start shipping in November 2017. Visit their Kickstarter page for all the details.

SparkMaker – The Most Affordable Desktop SLA 3D Printer

What is it?
SparkMaker is an affordable SLA 3D printer that prints in high-resolution.

Why do I like it?
I like the SparkMaker 3D printer because unlike other 3D printers, this one is small enough to fit on almost any desk. It also uses a liquid resin instead of filament to create the models which hang from the print bed like a bat 🙂 It also does not need to be connected to a network. You just copy the model files to an SD card and insert that card into the printer.

Where can I find more info?
With 32 days left in the campaign, the Color Notebook has already passed their funding goal of $20,000. You can pre-order a Color Notebook starting at $145. After the Color Notebook campaign ends, rewards are estimated to start shipping in December 2017. Visit their Kickstarter page for all the details.

Musvalk. A fierce, yet small and elegant cutting tool.

What is it?
Musvalk is a little knife that is made of ceramics, titanium, and carbon fiber.

Why do I like it?
I like the Musvalk knife because it’s small and has a unique shape that allows it to fit in your pocket or wear it around your neck. The blade is made of zirconium dioxide ceramic (Zirconia) and is almost as hard as a diamond.

Where can I find more info?
With 31 days left in the campaign, the Musvalkv has already passed their funding goal of $25,000. You can pre-order a Musvalk knife starting at $38. After the Musvalk campaign ends, rewards are estimated to start shipping in December 2017. Visit their Kickstarter page for all the details.

Rollbe EDC ruler, Vizy smartphone car mount, the best alarm clock, and more – Notable crowdfunding campaigns

Happy Wednesday! Here’s a new batch of five Kickstarter crowdfunding campaigns that I think are interesting and/or worthy of your pledges. Click through to see this week’s notable crowdfunding campaigns.

Sandman Doppler: The World’s Best Alarm Clock

What is it?
Sandman Doppler is an alarm clock that’s Alexa enabled, has 6 USB charging ports, can play music, and more.

Why do I like it?
The Sandman Doppler a smart alarm clock which by itself doesn’t sound that exciting, but I like that it has a bunch of USB ports on the back so you can keep your everyday gadgets charged. But the best thing are the programmable physical buttons on top of the clock that you can use to interact with your other gear. You can program a button to turn off all your Philips HUE lights, turn your Nest thermostat up or down, and more.

Where can I find more info?
With 14 days left in the campaign, Sandman Doppler has already passed their funding goal of $25,458. You can pre-order a Sandman Doppler clock starting at $119. After the Sandman Doppler campaign ends, rewards are estimated to start shipping in July 2018. Visit their Kickstarter page for all the details.

Tülry: The World’s First Glamour Utility Necklace

What is it?
Tülry is a wearable EDC tool kit designed for women that has 16 built-in tools.

Why do I like it?
I can’t imagine actually wearing a Tülry necklace because I never wear necklaces, but I couldn’t help but be intrigued by the design. The necklace can expand to add more tools like different types of screwdrivers, a bottle opener, and hex keys. It’s both goofy, useful, and geeky.

Where can I find more info?
With 9 days left in the campaign, Tülry has already passed their funding goal of $10,000. You can pre-order a Tülry necklace starting at $69. After the Tülry campaign ends, rewards are estimated to start shipping in November 2017. Visit their Kickstarter page for all the details.

SHIFT: The Ultimate Pack for Photography, Travel and Tech

What is it?
The SHIFT Pack is a modular backpack that’s perfect for photographers but one that can be used by anyone that likes to keep their gear organized and easily transportable.

Why do I like it?
I’ve been a messenger bag carrier for years, but have just recently started thinking about switching to a backpack and I’ve been keeping an eye out for interesting bags that have more features than the standard run of the mill backpack. The SHIFT Pack can sit flat without falling over, has a ton of storage pockets, can easily attach to rolling luggage, and it has a zippered padded compartment in the bottom that can be used to hold a camera, shoes, or other larger items that you want to keep separate from the rest of gear.

Where can I find more info?
With 15 days left in the campaign, SHIFT Pack has already passed their funding goal of $20,000. You can pre-order a SHIFT Pack starting at $179. After the SHIFT Pack campaign ends, rewards are estimated to start shipping in February 2018. Visit their Kickstarter page for all the details.

Rollbe – Super Compact Measuring Tool

What is it?
Rollbe is a 4 or 8 inch (10 or 20 cm) stainless steel ruler that you can carry in your pocket.

Why do I like it?
I like the Rollbe measuring tool because it can be used to measure straight lines and curves. It’s cool little pocket ruler that you can take with you when you’re shopping for quick measurements.

Where can I find more info?
With 28 days left in the campaign, Rollbe has already passed their funding goal of $6,361. You can pre-order a Rollbe starting at $16. After the Rollbe campaign ends, rewards are estimated to start shipping in November 2017. Visit their Kickstarter page for all the details.

Vizy – World’s Safest Car Mount. Period.

What is it?
Vizy is a smartphone holder for your car that attaches to the window visor.

Why do I like it?
I like the Vizy holder because it doesn’t use a suction cup, adhesives, vent slats, etc. It looks easy to install and relocate as needed. I also like that your phone will be more in line with your eyes than if it was down in the console area.

Where can I find more info?
With 39 days left in the campaign, Vizy is still working their funding goal of $9,448. You can pre-order a Vizy starting at $14. After the Vizy campaign ends, rewards are estimated to start shipping in October 2017. Visit their Kickstarter page for all the details.

ORII Bluetooth “headset” ring, ANCOR CABLE, Swidget modular wall outlet, and more – Notable crowdfunding campaigns

This week we bring you five Kickstarter crowdfunding campaigns for a variety of products. Click through to see this week’s notable crowdfunding campaigns.

The Best Premium Toiletry Bag For Traveling

blurb by Andy Jacobs

What is it?
A premium quality, durable, & versatile toiletry bag that lets you organize & pack your toiletries. It’s sleek, sturdy, and adaptable.

Why do I like it?
Many of us here at The Gadgeteer, myself included, are travelers of varying degrees. Two of the habits that typically help make my travels go more smoothly are organization and packing light. Gravel founders Lance Williams and Chris Livingston seem to agree, because this Premium Toiletry Pack they designed might just help with both. The pack has a ton of pockets in differed configurations specifically designed to separate and store various type of travel items, a full-opening zipper clamshell design, a hideaway hang strap, and multiple premium materials including a Tarpaulin PVC exterior for water resistance. And to top it all off, a Lifetime Warranty.

Where can I find more info?
The Kickstarter campaign kicked off June 19 and ends August 18, but Gravel has already vaulted past their funding goal of $12,000 with over $100,000 in pledges and 1,950 backers as of this writing. Pledge package pricing starts at $39 for the Early Bird package and combo packages are available. Estimated delivery is December 2017. Travel over to the Kickstarter campaign page for more details.

ORII – Your Voice Powered Smart Ring

What is it?
ORII is a “headset” that uses bone conduction to send sound through the bones in your finger and into your ear.

Why do I like it?
I like the ORII because it’s a headset that you don’t have to leave in your ear to send and receive calls. I always feel like a dork when I have a Bluetooth headset in my ear and I refuse to wear one in public to the grocery store, etc. With ORII, you’re already wearing the headset, but it’s on your finger, so it’s less dorky.

Where can I find more info?
With 21 days left in the campaign, ORII has already reached their funding goal of $30,000. You can pre-order an ORII ring starting at $119. After the ORII campaign ends, rewards are estimated to start shipping in February 2018. Visit their Kickstarter page for all the details.

ANCHOR CABLE – Last cable you will ever need

What is it?
ANCHOR CABLE is a stainless steel magnetic charging cable that can be used with USB-C, lightning, and micro USB enabled devices by way of special magnetic plugs that stay in the device’s charging ports like the Apple MagSafe connector on MacBooks.

Why do I like it?
I like the ANCHOR CABLE because magnets! And because it’s made of stainless steel. What’s there not to like? Seriously though, if I can’t have wireless charging for my iPhone, I want a MagSafe-like cable for it. Or even one for my 12″ MacBook for that matter because Apple likes to ruin everything and got rid of the MagSafe connector for their newer MacBooks…. sniff.

Where can I find more info?
With 15 days left in the campaign, ANCHOR CABLE has already reached their funding goal of $13,022. You can pre-order an ANCHOR CABLE starting at $34. After the ANCHOR CABLE campaign ends, rewards are estimated to start shipping in January 2018. Visit their Kickstarter page for all the details.

Swidget™ Outlet: The Smart Home Device for All Platforms

What is it?
Swidget is a replacement AC wall outlet that uses your home’s existing wiring to make your home a smart home with special inserts that plug into the outlet to add various capabilities.

Why do I like it?
I like Swidget because it’s a neater way to add smart home features without having plugs sticking out of walls or modules that you have to find room for on shelves and tables. It’s also customizable. You choose the features you want like temperatures sensors, USB ports, motion detectors, etc.

Where can I find more info?
With 36 days left in the campaign, Swidget still has some work to do before they will reach their funding goal of $40,000. You can pre-order a Swidget starting at $38. After the Swidget campaign ends, rewards are estimated to start shipping in June 2018. Visit their Kickstarter page for all the details.

DJIN: The Wallet, perfected.

What is it?
DJIN is a small wallet that has a clip for cards and bills, a slide pocket for coins, keys and USB sticks, and a secret stash-drawer for smaller items like SIM and flash cards.

Why do I like it?
I like DJIN because it’s an interesting example of a minimalist wallet. It’s a bit thicker than some minimalist wallets, but I like the fact that it has a drawer for coins, keys and more.

Where can I find more info?
With 31 days left in the campaign, DJIN has already reached their funding goal of $25,000. You can pre-order a DJIN starting at $39. After the DJIN campaign ends, rewards are estimated to start shipping in December 2017. Visit their Kickstarter page for all the details.

GEMINI magnetic speakers, EVERGOODS backpacks, Amabrush automatic toothbrush, and more – Notable crowdfunding campaigns

Today I’m bringing you a brand new batch of interesting crowdfunding projects. I find these campaigns through emails that have been sent to me and my own web surfing explorations. Click through to see this week’s notable crowdfunding campaigns.

GEMINI Magnetic Speakers, Stick and Play 360° Sound Anytime

What is it?
GEMINI speakers are individual Bluetooth speakers with magnetic mounts.

Why do I like it?
I like the GEMINI speakers because magnets! The speakers can play for up to 8hrs and can recharge in about 50 minutes. I also think it’s cool that you can adjust the space between the left and right speaker to give the full stereo effect for your tunes. And for those of you who like to run or bike, they are offering specially designed mounts so you can take the GEMINI speakers with you.

Where can I find more info?
With 44 days left in the campaign, GEMINI is just getting started toward their funding goal of $5,000. You can pre-order a set of GEMINI speakers starting at $49. After the GEMINI campaign ends, rewards are estimated to start shipping in September 2017. Visit their Kickstarter page for all the details.

The EVERGOODS CPL24 and MPL30 Crossover Backpacks

Blurb by Andy Jacobs< ,strong>

What is it?
The EVERGOODS Civic Panel Loader, 24 Liter (CPL24) and Mountain Panel Loader, 30 Liter (MPL30) are crossover backpacks that look great, have very thoughtful and useful features, and are designed and durably manufactured in the USA.

Why do I like it?
I’m a big fan of backpacks, and Jack Barley and Kevin Dee, who have extensive backgrounds in backpack and outdoor gear design and manufacturing, have teamed up to found EVERGOODS, a new gear company whose first products are the CPL24 and MPL30 crossover backpacks. What does “crossover” mean? The CPL24 is designed to excel in an urban environment but is just as useful in the outdoors. Vice-versa for the MPL30 focused for use in outdoor settings, but at home in town or city. These first two backpack designs feature clean, appealing appearances and the sheer number of well-considered, useful features in each of them is very impressive. Plus they are quality built in the USA from highly durable materials.

Where can I find more info?
The Kickstarter campaign just kicked off last week on July 11 and ends August 12, but EVERGOODS has already blown through their funding goal of $45,000 with over $120,000 in pledges and over 470 backers—and the campaign looks to be picking up steam. As of this writing, EVERGOODS has just added more “Early Bird” pledge options with good discounts (pledges starting at $199 for CPL24 and $229 for MLP30), and combo packages are also available. Estimated delivery is December 2017. Visit the Kickstarter campaign page for more details.

KEYANCHOR | World’s Smallest EDC Multi-Tool & Key Organizer

What is it?
The KEYANCHOR is a small key organizer and multi-tool that’s made of Grade5 Titanium.

Why do I like it?
I like the KEYANCHOR because it’s so small and unique. It’s a key organizer, tiny pry bar, box opener, bottle cap lifter, and more. I’m not sure how it would feel in your pocket due to the way the ring and keys are situated, but I can’t help but be intrigued.

Where can I find more info?
With 22 days left in the campaign, KEYANCHOR is still toward their funding goal of $5,000. You can pre-order a KEYANCHOR starting at $24. After the GEMINI campaign ends, rewards are estimated to start shipping in October 2017. Visit their Kickstarter page for all the details.

Amabrush – World’s First Automatic Toothbrush

What is it?
Amabrush is an automatic toothbrush that will brush your teeth for you in just 10 seconds.

Why do I like it?
I like Amabrush because sounds like an incredible claim for a product that can automatically and effectively brush your teeth hands-free in 10 seconds. Sounds too good to be true. But from the look of how well this campaign is doing, there are a LOT of people (over 13,000 backers so far) who think a gadget like this would be useful. Until I can try one, I’m not convinced it can really brush my teeth as well as I can do it manually, but I hope it does work as advertised and I get a chance to try one.

Where can I find more info?
With 17 days left in the campaign, Amabrush has smashed their funding goal of $57,639 by over 1 million dollars. You can pre-order an Amabrush starting at $90. After the Amabrush campaign ends, rewards are estimated to start shipping in December 2017. Visit their Kickstarter page for all the details.

Volterman – World’s Most Powerful Smart Wallet

What is it?
Volterman is a smart wallet made of leather.

Why do I like it?
I like the Volterman wallet because it has features not seen in other so-called smart wallets. In addition to offering a built in powerbank and proximity alarms which some other wallets offer, the Volterman raises the bar by also offers wireless charging, free GPS tracking, WiFi hotspot and even a hidden thief detection camera. which snaps a picture when the wallet is opened.

Where can I find more info?
With 15 days left in the campaign, Volterman has already reached their funding goal of $45,000. You can pre-order a Volterman starting at $139. After the Volterman campaign ends, rewards are estimated to start shipping in December 2017. Visit their Indiegogo page for all the details.

Cubetto, Telour fidget spinner wallet, Scribbler DUO, and more – Notable crowdfunding campaigns

I have scoured Kickstarter and have chosen 4 crowdfunding campaigns that I think are interesting enough that you’ll want to check them out. Click through to see my list of this week’s notable crowdfunding campaigns.

Cubetto – Coding without screens for kids aged 3 and up

Blurb by Ryan Pagel

What is it?
The Cubetto is a Montessori-approved toy for children ages 3+ that introduces and teaches logic based coding in a fun and screen free format.

Why do I like it?
I have two boys, ages 6 and 4 who both attend a Montessori school. Through the use of different maps and stories and a little robot, the children have been introduced to coding in a fun and very approachable way.  Right out of the box we were playing and having fun.  After a few days of exploring this, it has become one of my children’s favorite indoor activities.  When I first received this I didn’t know if this would be something my children would enjoy but after playing with this for a few days, I would recommend this to any children with an interest in science, robots, puzzles, remote controlled cars, computers, etc.

Where can I find more info?
With 12 days left in the campaign (ends July 19, 2017) Primo Toys has crushed their goal of $100,000 with over $577,000 in pledges and nearly 2,600 backers. There are only a handful of advanced purchase packages available on their Kickstarter page so if you are considering this, move quickly before they are all gone.  You can pre-order a Cubetto Adventure pack starting at $50. Estimated shipping date is in September of 2017. Visit their Kickstarter page for all the details.

Scribbler DUO: The World’s First Dual-Nozzle 3D Printing Pen

What is it?
The Scribbler DUO is a handheld 3D printing pen.

Why do I like it?
I like the Scribbler DUO because it features two nozzles. That means that you can use two different colors of filament in the pen to create interestingly colored models and you can finish those models even faster since there are two nozzles.

Where can I find more info?
With 20 days left in the campaign, The Scribbler DUO campaign is still working towards their funding goal of $15,750. You can pre-order a Scribbler DUO starting at $99. After the Scribbler DUO campaign ends, rewards are estimated to start shipping in August 2017. Visit their Kickstarter page for all the details.

TELOUR | Minimalist Spinner Wallet

What is it?
TELOUR is a minimalist wallet that’s also a fidget spinner.

Why do I like it?
I like the TELOUR wallet because it’s a simple minimalist wallet AND it’s also a fidget spinner. Crowdfunding campaigns for minimalist wallets are usually pretty popular, so a designer decided to create a wallet with the latest crazy – fidget spinners. Silly? Yes. But it’s a genius idea and I can’t believe it’s not already up to eleventy million dollars in pledges!

Where can I find more info?
With 40 days left in the campaign, The TELOUR campaign is still working towards their funding goal of $10,000. You can pre-order a TELOUR starting at $29. After the TELOUR campaign ends, rewards are estimated to start shipping in December 2017. Visit their Kickstarter page for all the details.

BondicEVO™ Liquid Plastic Welder

What is it?
BondicEVO is a battery operated pocket-sized liquid plastic welding tool.

Why do I like it?
I like the BondicEVO because it looks like a great tool for makers and DIYers. Just squirt the liquid plastic on a broken item, shine the special curing light on the liquid plastic and within 5 seconds, it’s hardened, allow you to easily repair broken products instead of trashing them.

Where can I find more info?
With 40 days left in the campaign, The BondicEVO campaign is getting close to reaching their funding goal of $34,891. You can pre-order a BondicEVO starting at $11. After the BondicEVO campaign ends, rewards are estimated to start shipping in August 2017. Visit their Kickstarter page for all the details.
