The Battalion Collection 12 HR Backpacks are designed and handmade by a real firefighter

As an avid day tripper/hiker, I am constantly on the prowl for backpacks. Here is one backpack with an interesting backstory of Jake Starr, a firefighter.  Looking to supplement his income prior to the birth of his son, he taught himself to sew handmade goods hoping to sell his creations over the internet. At the firehouse, he discovered he could repurpose decommissioned fire hose as an interesting material, and RecycledFirefighter.com was born. He now sells a variety of EDC goods while creating more ideas for his new found material.

“The Battalion Collection” 12 HR Backpack is Jake’s latest offering. While it doesn’t use repurposed fire hose, the backpack is made with 1000D Cordura nylon and YKK zippers. The main 12 L storage section is accompanied by 2 interior zippered mesh pockets and a large exterior front pocket with a vertical zipper. The interior is lined with 400D Pack Cloth colored in what he calls “Hi Visibility Blaze Orange” that allows stored objects to stand out while you rummage through contents. The exterior comes in four different colors/styles.

“The Battalion Collection” 12 HR Backpack is hand sewn in the USA and retails for $129. It is available for pre-order on February 18, 2017 at RecycledFirefighter.
